Milestone Imprint 2 x 2 12" x 12" Porcelain Mosaic

This collection celebrates the contrasts between old and new, fragile and strong, machined and crafted, promoting the authenticity of clay and its inherent biophilic connection between humans in the built environment and the natural world. A harmonious combination of earthen inspired designs celebrate earthen craft without dimming the spirit and individuality of the origin material. At once natural, versatile, biophilic and sustainable, clay's raw beauty of unpredictability and inherent imperfection leaves an imprint on us all. Used throughout human history, clay is all around us in both creative and practical forms, historical and modern. Clay is both fragile and incredibly strong. Unfired earth is responsive and malleable. As soon as it is touched in its soft state, there is an imprint. We leave our mark on clay as it has left its mark on our human heritage. Craft is often seen as converse to our current technology- centered approach but clay carries the value of tradition and the promise of innovation. Imprint celebrates the natural materiality, honors artisan traditions, and enables us to connect to something bigger. It is these seemingly dichotomous ideas that nourish each other in all clay works thereby cultivating this collection.
